Privacy policy

Last updated: 18 September 2026

This is a courtesy translation. In case of any discrepancy, the French version of this policy prevails.

Majord'Home is a household upkeep app published by Sébastien Gillard. This policy explains what data is processed, why, and how you keep control of it. It covers both the iOS app and this website.

For any question or request about your data: admin@majordhome.app.

1. Data controller

Sébastien Gillard, publisher of the Majord'Home app. Contact: admin@majordhome.app.

2. The majordhome.app website

2.1 Cookieless audience measurement

This site measures its traffic with Matomo, free software installed on a server belonging to the publisher. The pages you visit are therefore sent to no third-party service: no Google Analytics, no remote web font, no social network button, no advertising.

The measurement is deliberately limited to knowing which pages are read:

That is why you are shown no consent banner: with no cookie, no identification and no plain-text IP address, this measurement falls under the consent exemption the French data protection authority (CNIL) grants to audience measurement alone. The resulting statistics are aggregated and cannot identify you. Legal basis: legitimate interest (improving the site); to object, simply switch on Do Not Track in your browser.

2.2 The only cookies set

A technical cookie named mh_ft is set only when you open the page containing the application form. It holds a random value unrelated to your identity, exists solely to stop a third-party site submitting the form on your behalf, and expires after two hours.

A second cookie, mh_lang, is set only if you change language: it remembers your choice so the home page serves you the right version directly. It contains nothing but "fr" or "en". Neither allows any tracking whatsoever.

2.3 Beta application

DataWhyLegal basis
First nameTo address you properlyConsent
Email addressTo confirm the application, then send the TestFlight invitationConsent
Household make-up, device, interestsTo assemble a representative test panelConsent
Free-text messageOptional, at your initiativeConsent

The application is only recorded once you have clicked the confirmation link received by email (double opt-in). Without that click, the information entered is erased automatically after seven days. No IP address is kept: only anonymous fingerprints are used, for at most 24 hours, to limit abusive submissions.

This data is kept until the end of the beta phase, then deleted. You can ask for it to be erased at any time with a simple email. It is used for no marketing and passed to nobody.

3. The app — data processed

3.1 Account

DataWhyLegal basis
Email addressLogin identifier, invitations, summariesPerformance of the contract
PasswordAuthentication — stored as a hash, never in clear textPerformance of the contract
Display nameTo identify you to the other occupants of the householdPerformance of the contract

3.2 Household contents

You enter these yourself: households, rooms, appliances, plants, surfaces, upkeep tasks and completed activities. This data serves only to make the app work for you and the occupants of your household.

3.3 Address and location

A household's address is optional. When you provide it, it is converted into coordinates to show the household on a map. The app does not track your position: no background location, no movement history.

3.4 Photos and documents

You can attach photos and documents (receipts, manuals, warranties). They are stored on the app's server and are accessible only to the occupants of the household concerned. Access to the camera and photo library is requested only at the moment you add an image.

3.5 Receipt analysis

The app can extract the name, price, purchase date and warranty length from a photo of a receipt. This analysis runs entirely on your iPhone. The image is sent to no server for this operation.

3.6 Mental load

Mental load declarations (domains, contingencies, relationships) are personal data sensitive in terms of household privacy. They are visible only to the members of the household concerned, and one member's declaration is revealed to the others only once the calibration session is closed — a rule enforced by the server, not only by the interface.

3.7 Contacts

Access to contacts serves only to suggest an email address when you invite an occupant. No contact is transmitted or kept on the server.

3.8 Face ID / Touch ID

Used to unlock the app. Authentication is handled by iOS; no biometric data is received or stored.

3.9 Notifications

If you accept them, a device identifier provided by Apple (APNs token) is kept in order to send you reminders. It cannot identify you outside the app and is deleted when you sign out.

4. What is never done

5. Sharing within a household

A household's data is visible to its occupants: contents, tasks, completed activities and how the load is shared. That is the very principle of the app. An occupant who leaves a household, or whose membership is closed, immediately loses access to that data.

6. Processors

ProviderRoleData concerned
Apple (APNs)Delivery of push notificationsDevice token
Apple (TestFlight)Beta distributionTester's email address
Server hostStorage of the database and filesAll account data
Email sending serviceInvitations, password resets, summariesEmail address

No data is transferred outside the European Union beyond what notification delivery and TestFlight distribution by Apple require.

7. Retention

Your data is kept as long as your account exists. After the account is deleted:

8. Deleting your account

Deletion happens from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete my account. It is permanent and requires your password.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability.

To exercise any other right: admin@majordhome.app. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

10. Security

11. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. A "child" account within a household is created and administered by a responsible adult.

12. Changes

Any significant change to this policy will be announced in the app. The date at the top of the document indicates the latest revision.
